Let's talk about
Where we are located
&
how to get here
The Sundre Kommun project is located in Sundre, which is the most southern parish in Solsudret – the “sunny south” – on Gotland, the biggest Swedish island in the Baltic Sea.
It’s not called Solsudret without reason – it is indeed the sunniest spot of whole Sweden with the most sunny hours per year – and in average sometimes 1-2 degrees warmer than in Visby, the islands capital.
Sundre lays approx. 91km from Visby and 14km from Burgsvik, the next bigger village with bus stop, supermarket, atm, port, restaurants and a petrol station. In summer (mainly in Sweden’s main vacation season) there is also running a bus right down to Hoburgen, Gotlands South cape, and you would get off at the stop “Körsbärsgården”, but make sure that you read the right schedule and it applies to your time of travel.
Get to Gotland by plane and / or by ferry from Stockholm (Nynäshamn) or by car and ferry from Oskarshamn or Nynäshamn.
Depending on from where and how you travel to Gotland, it might be either more convenient to depart from Nynäshamn, which is close to Stockholm, or from Oskarshamn, which lays a bit further South.
Oskarshamn is a convenient solution for everyone traveling from Southsweden, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and so on by train, bus or car.
Coming from Poland, you could catch a direct ferry from Gdansk to Stockholm (Nynäshamn) but then again would have to change ferries there to get to Gotland.
Book your ferry tickets here:

The quickest but always more costly (and less eco-friendly) option is flying. Sometimes you can catch a flight connection which ends up right on Gotland, but mostly you have to go via Stockholm.
From Stockholm there are direct flights which only take 45min to Visby.
So the fastest, but not the cheapest way to get here is:
STOCKHOLM AIRPORT ➡️ VISBY AIRPORT ➡️ VISBY BUS STATION ➡️ BURGSVIK *
* Book a pick-up from Burgsvik:
Since there are mostly no busses running from Burgsvik to Sundre, please communicate a preferred pick-up time from the bus stop in Burgsvik, so we can come and give you a lift to your final destination.
Alternatives to flying are:
Train to Stockholm and further from there with the ferry to Gotland.
Come by car and bring all your friends & family along 😉
Or when going without a car, for example you would take one of the flygbussarna from Stockholm Arlanda to the central station “T centralen”, change there into the train that goes to Nynäshamn or take one of the båtbussarna. From the station in Nynäshamn it would be a quick 10min walk to the ferry terminal. The bus takes a bit longer than the train in comparison but therefore it drops you off right in front of the ferry terminal.
One more thing you might want to consider when choosing plane or ferry:
The ferry terminal is very close to the central bus station in Visby (“busterminalen”) and you can walk there, it takes about 10-15min.
When you go by plane, please keep in mind that the airport is a bit outside of the city in the North of Visby and therefore you need to coordinate your arrival time with the flygbussarna which function in high season pretty reliably, but depending on when you arrive, you might want to book a Taxi beforehand, because you cannot take for granted that there will always be Taxis right on site when you arrive.
Unless you arrive by car and ferry, you need to get to the central bus station for catching line 10, 11 or 12 for going down to Burgsvik*.
